Anime Houston’s guest list brings together some of the best anime voice actors the world over. As Houston is already a central hub for anime, these actors are excited to meet fans here.

John Gremillion

John Gremillion is a stage, film and voice actor who has been working in anime for over 20 years, providing voices for dozens of popular anime titles for ADV, FUNimation, Okratron 5000, and Sentai Filmworks. John’s most popular roles include Gentle Criminal in My Hero Academia, Dracule Mihawk in One Piece, Roland Chapelle in Food Wars, Arthur Randall in Black Butler, and D in Sentai’s recent re-release of Vampire Hunter D (Nomination – Best Male Lead Vocal Performance in an Anime Feature Film, 2015). Other roles include Nakeshi Hirokawa in Parasyte: The Maxim, General Liver in Akame Ga Kill!, as well as roles in Attack on Titan, Black Clover, Fire Force, Log Horizon and many others.

A professional video editor for over 20 years, John worked on the supplemental materials ADV’s 2010 release of Halo Legends and for FUNimation’s release of Assassination Classroom Vol 2. He studied film at The University of Texas at Austin and Theatre Arts at The Juilliard School of Drama.

Greg Ayres

Greg Ayres has been blasting his way through the world! With over 290 credits to his name, he has managed to play a variety of characters that are almost as colorful as his hair. He was thrilled to make his second appearance in the DragonBall universe in DragonBall Super as Frost, and equally excited blasting bugs as Geo in Sony Picture’s Starship Troopers : Traitor of Mars. Some other recent roles include Jiro in Concrete Revolutio, Sho Utsumi in SSSSGridman, Ryuuou Edogawa in Doreiku, Koji Koda in My Hero Academia, and even makes an appearance as Popuko in Pop Team Epic. He is proud to be a part of the new “Pink Harvest” productions for Sentai Filmworks, in the roles of Izumi Sena in Lovestage, and Yabase in Hitorijime My Hero. This year he was also given the opportunity to reprise one of his all time favorite roles as Son Goku in Saiyuki Reload Blast. Some other recent favorites include Nagisa Haruki in Free, and Free Eternal Summer, MonoKuma in Danganronpa, Clear in Dramatical Murder, and Doug in Gangsta, Yu Nishinoya in Haikyu, Zenji Marui in Food Wars, Ganta Igarashi in Deadman Wonderland, Heihachi Hayashida in Samurai 7, and Kouichi Sakakibara in Another. Some of his all-time favorite roles include Son Goku in Saiyuki, Chrono in Chrono Crusade, Kaoru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club, Youhei Sunohara in Clannad, Yuki in The Wallflower, Leo in Ghost Stories, Satoshi Hiwatari in DNAngel, Kaworu Nagisa in the Director’s Cut of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tomoki Sakurai in Heaven’s Lost Property, and Negi Springfield in Negima.

When he’s not in a booth with headphones on, you can usually find him sporting headphones behind “the decks” at many a music event. A veteran nightclub DJ of many years, he has jumped at the opportunity to play music and organize late night dances at many of the conventions he attends. Greg is also a member of Project BECK, who perform music from the anime Beck Mongolian Chop Squad, and has had a blast reliving the music from that show with his friends. Thrilled to be able to share his love of music with anyone willing to listen – from packed rooms at anime conventions, to the legendary stage of The Knitting Factory (NYC), he’s always ready to make a little noise.

Brittney Karbowski

Brittney Karbowski has been voice acting for 14 years. Robert L. Mungle

Robert L. Mungle is a voice actor for Funimation, ADV Films, Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks, and OkraTron 5000. The Right Reverend Robert L. Mungle also founded comedy group The Whiskey Brothers in 1998. Since then, while the line-up has changed, it has been his outrageously loud voice that has led the group. Mungle has taken the stage everywhere from sold out theaters to seedy strip clubs. His IMDB page boasts over 100 different anime roles, from “Ghost Stories” to “Lady Death” to “Excel Saga.” He was born in Houston and you might recognize him from any of tons of anime roles, some of which include Amanojaku from Ghost Stories, Mr.8 from One Piece, Matsushita from Angel Beats, and Pedro Domingo from Excel Saga. He’s appeared in Akame ga Kill!, 009-1, Broken Blade, Gantz, Halo Legends, and many others.

Christine Auten

Christine Auten started her career in anime back in the crazy 1990’s. In the over 20 years since she has been fortunate enough to have worked on hundreds of anime and live action titles as a voice actor, scriptwriter and voice director.

Whitney Rodgers

Whitney Rodgers is a Voice Actress, model and singer best known for her roles as “Meiko Shiraki” in Prison School and “Yozora” from Haganai and Hagani NEXT! .

She has played many characters, including: “Lotta Hart” in FUNimations “Ace Attorney” “Aguri Yukimura” in Assassination Classroom, “Margaret” in One Piece, “Artemis” from Maria the Virgin Witch, “Amelia Evans” in Freezing Vibration, and more. Whitney has also lent her voice to SMITE for the playable characters of “Ordo Solarus Amaterasu” and “Leona Genesis Jet Pack Fighter.” When she is not actively recording voice-overs, Whitney enjoys: going to the gym, drinking gallons of coffee, and watching “Eons” On youtube. Patricia Duran
Patricia Duran is a native Houstonian with over twenty years of experience as a professional stage actor working locally, regionally, and in New York City. In the early 2,000’s she did a little voice over work with ADV (now Sentai Filmworks), but it wasn’t until 2016 when she returned to her hometown after working in NY that she really became involved with voicing anime and fell in love with it. Some of her favorite roles include; Princess (Princess Principal), Freya (Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), Shenfa (Assassins Pride), Hikari Kagura (Revue Starlight), Dolte (Release the Spyce), Hazuki Morikawa (Just Because), Yayaka (Flip Flappers), and so many more!

She is a founding company member with Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre Company who strive to promote the empowerment of women in the performing arts. Duran received the 2020 Houston Press award for the Best Everywhere We Looked Player and in 2019 won Best Actress for her role as Maxima Terrible Segunda in The Hunchback of Seville. Texan Heat Nerdlesque

Established February 12th, 2016, Texan Heat Nerdlesque is one of the first nerdlesque-centric troupes based in Texas! Proudly queer-owned, we aim to share performances from individuals just as diverse as the fandoms where each of us reside! Since 2021 marks five years from the anime’s release date, we have an entirely My Hero Academia themed nerdlesque show in store for Anime Houston! The UA students are all grown up, graduated, and are ready to showcase their skills alongside prominent heroes and villains. We have a plus ultra show for all adult fans of My Hero Academia, the Vigilantes spin-off, and/or its fandom-made alternate universes! We hope you enjoy the show!

Blake Shepard
Contributing to the anime world since 2003, beginning with ADV films, Blake Shepard has lent his vocal talents to such studios as FUNimation, Sentai Filmworks, Seraphim Digital and the Anime Network. Appearing in nearly 200 shows, His unique tone and versatility has allowed him to provide performances for a range of characters in shows such as: Knights of the Zodiac (Netflix Original), Saint Seiya (Netflix), Food Wars (Netflix, Adult Swim), Darling in the Franxx, ReLife, 7 Seeds, Brynhildr in the Darkness, Campione!, One Piece (Netflix), Pop Team Epic (Adult Swim), Black Clover (Adult Swim), Shin Godzilla, Tokyo Ghoul, Air Gear (SyFy Channel/Adult Swim), Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood, Attack on Titan (Cartoon Network), Halo Legends (Netflix) and many more. Jay Hickman
Jay began his career in anime in the 1990s, when he landed his first role at ADV Films in Master of Mosquiton. Since then, he has appeared in more than 100 titles with studios including ADV Films, Funimation, Sentai Filmworks, Switchblade Pictures, Okratron 5000, and others. As a character actor, Jay has been able to voice a broad variety of colorful roles, with the occasional romantic lead thrown in for good measure. His notable credits over the past two decades are

Christina Kelly
Christina Kelly is an American actress and voice actress for Sentai Filmworks and Funimation Entertainment. Christina attended the University of Houston’s School of Theatre and Dance, and graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. In Houston Texas she’s appeared on stage at A.D. Players, Unity Theatre and The Catastrophic Theatre. Christina is also represented by The Pastorini Bosby Agency. Olivia Swasey
Olivia Swasey started working in anime when she was just a kid doing bit parts and walla. In 2018 she graduated into larger roles such as: 3D Kanojo Real Girl (Ishino); Release the Spyce (Katrina); Revue Starlight (Maya Tendo); and 7Seeds (Ran). She has also appeared in BanG Dream! (Yukina Minato), Bloom Into You (Midori Igarashi), Land of the Lustrous (Morga), and To Love-ru (Aya). She loves doing yoga and making brownies. She is always looking forward to her next project!

John Swasey
Chairman of Anime Dallas, John Swasey started down the road of anime in 1997, when he landed his first role in Golden Boy from ADV Films. Since then, John has gone on to voice hundreds shows and characters. John’s wife once quipped that there are certain actors who might be the “Brad Pitts” of anime but John is the “Kevin Bacon” of anime. Being the character actor type has given John the freedom to voice bazillions of characters such as Undertaker in Black Butler, Salvador in Borderlands II (VG), Gendo in Evangelion, the Captain in Halo (VG), Lord Death in Soul Eater, Hoenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist, Sir Crocodile in One Piece, Salvador in Borderland II, Kogoro in Sgt. Frog, Huang in Darker than Black, Vulcan in Orphen, Ken in Kaleido Star, Captain Ahab in Hakugei The Legend of Moby Dick, Rikudoh in RahXephon, Mister in Coyote Ragtime Show, as well as roles in the live action films 2009 Lost Memories, Conduct Zero, Yesterday, Jungle Juice, and the Gamera trilogy.
